Analysis of the comments on the activity

Problem-solving:

It is associated with the cognitivist learning theory because it is sophisticated type of learning then we find in drill and practice exercises.
This programs are designed to promote student's higher order thinking skills such as logic, reasoning, pattern recognition and strategies. As they interact with the program, they gradually move from simple 'trail and error' to more logical and systematic thinking processes.

How to use in the classroom:
  • Teacher should allow sufficient time for students to explore and interact with the software.
  • Teacher may first demonstrate the steps to solve problems, then ask students to provide other possible methods to solve the same problems using this software.
  • Teacher may provide the students to solve the problem in pairs or groups and let them present their solving strategies.
Multimedia encyclopaedia and electronic books:

It is software where you can store huge database with full text, still images, animation, audio and video so tha the students can use the software to access any desired information and even download relevant data. Electronic books preset textual information for reading, but are supplemented with other types of multimedia information like sounds, spoken voices, pictures and animations. Electronic books can act as tutor to learn reading, spelling and word skills.
Some of the examples of this software are Eyewitness children's Encyclopedia,  Just grandma and me and Macbeth.

How to use in the classroom:
  • Teachers might demonstrate the variety of ways to search information.
  • Teachers should provide very clear questions that the students can answer with the software.
  • Teachers can assign topics for groups of students to do research by searching information stored in the software.

  1. its good that you have explained the benefits of the above mentioned strategies, but would be better if you can analyze and mention its drawbacks too. in nut shell you have understood and clearly mentioned the required points and thank you for letting us understand too.

  2. I enjoyed reading your posts..
    there are steps of problem solving using computer if u didnt know;
    EXTRA INFO:
    Step 1: "What's Going On?"

Establishes a context for the problems or opportunities being addressed, exploring different ways of solving the problem presented, and what a solution might look like.

    Step 2: "What's Success?"

The second step establishes a vision for a future with the problem solved or the opportunity exploited. In this stage often active imagination is used to imagine, explore, and describe how things would be if the issue were resolved.

    Step 3: "What's the Question?"

The third step frames the challenge whereby the computer program used as a tool provides a question. This is accomplished through brainstorm-like techniques eliciting as many questions as possible, and then clustering, combining, and choosing the question or questions that seem most stimulating.

    Step 4: "Generate Answers"

Through the use of brainstorming and other idea-generating techniques, the fourth step is designed to create a long list of possible solutions to the problem question.

These are the steps you go through while using computer as a tool .

  3. It's good that you have mentioned all the key points of the topic and your work is very impressive i must say.
You did talk about the role played by the teachers and it would be nice if you can list some of the roles of the students also.
keep the good work and thank you for sharing your points with us.
    Thank you...

  4. Problem-Solving is the most important learning theory because it is solely designed to promote learner's higher order skills of thinking such as reasoning, logic, pattern recognition and strategies.

In the Problem-Solving learning theory teacher plays vital roles in modeling the learners like:
Teacher should allow sufficient time for students to explore and interact with the software.
Teacher may first demonstrate the steps to solve problems, then ask students to provide other possible methods to solve the same problems using this software.
Teacher may provide the students to solve the problem in pairs or groups and let them present their solving strategies.

    ............................

Multimedia encyclopaedia and electronic books are the softwares which are designed in such a way that you can store huge or large amount of database with full text, images, animation, audio and video so that the learners can use the software to access any desired information and even download relevant data.

Here teacher has vital roles in modeling how to use those software in daily learning.

  5. you have done it good job..... i would like to provide some extra information ...
Problem Solving, It is is kind of software which help students to learn/solve a complicated problems.

Multimedia(full text, images, animation, audio and videos) is a software in which we can store vast information and even search information for learning.
Electronic books information for reading, but is supplemented with (Sound, spoken voice, picture and animation). Electronic books is used as a tutor to learn.
And i think it would have been batter if you have defined Those strategies separately and with more detail.Over all perfect work..enjoy...
